Update on subscribers issue

We had an issue with publishing to subscribers over the weekend, and we want to give you an update. 


First off, thank you. Your communication helped us understand the magnitude of this problem, and our engineers began working on it immediately. They’ve had some backlog to update and the process has taken longer than we’d like, but we’ve made a lot of progress and have already restored hundreds of hours of video to subscribers. We’re happy to let you know that any videos you’ve uploaded between Friday and Monday mornings should be published to your subscribers by the end of the day tomorrow.


As for newer videos, we’re currently seeing an average of 20 minutes lag time for videos to post to your subscribers, with a maximum delay of several hours. We expect that subscription activity (as well as video publishing, which has experienced related delays) should return to normal by the end of this week. 


We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you again for your patience.

  5. I wish you would clearly explain why this happens OVER AND OVER AND OVER again. is there no quality check before you push out the new code? do you have a test site that exactly mimics the live site that all new changes as well as old features are tested before new deployment? i think its time you signed up some beta testers in the outside world to help find bugs. i appreciate your efforts but i have been here for the better part of 5 years, and this is a repetitive issue.

  8. I know everyone would love a site that never had issues but being a developer myself I know that's hardly ever possible. That being said please I just ask for you to keep us updated when big issues occur like this. I was monitoring the support boards & twitter since Friday night and it wasn't until mid day Monday before someone from YouTube acknowledged there was an problem. A simple "we know there's an issue and we're working on it" goes a long way with an ETA being even more helpful. :) Thanks at the very least for this update tweet/post!

  12. How come it took our feedback to notice it? Was it not affecting anyone that works at YouTube to know about this internally first? Just seems odd that such a large problem takes our feedback to bring it to your attention.

  13. Why is there always a problem with Youtube? I know its a popular website, but it seems like everytime you go on it, there's a problem.

  14. Not to bash on the YouTube team, because you all are pretty cool people! But I mean- Who keeps screwing up the code for sub-boxes? Can't you like leave it alone, or run a youtube beta site for your youtube developers only where you test live code but don't risk screwing over "youtubers" on a regular basis?

  16. Over the weekend? No, this has been happening for weeks. I've had subscribers telling me for a while they don't see my videos in their subscription box. Use my account as a test subject if you have to. It's unfamouschris.

  19. I can only imagine the level of trepidation and outright anger that so many small channels such as myself are feeling. At this point NO ONE is seeing my videos!!

  20. Thank you for the update! I find that some of my newer subscribers who subscribed to me within the last 24 hours can see all my recent videos posted from the weekend up to today. Hope that my subscribers I have before the issues will also be able to see the new videos as well after the issues are addresses.

  23. I've noticed delays of more than just a few hours. Several of the channels I'm subscribed to posted yesterday or this morning and they're still not showing up. Only about half the channels I'm subscribed to are showing up in my feed at all and a lot of my own subscribers are still experiencing this problem so it's not just me. I don't want to upload videos until this is fixed so I sure hope it gets fixed soon.

  26. I'm a YouTube Partner with 99,000+ subscribers, I've had a subscription glitch (multiple ones actually) with the vast majority of my subscribers not getting my videos since September 2010 (not 2011).

    I frequently get messages from subscribed followers that they have only gotten 3-4 videos in their subscription boxes in months, when I post much, much more than that in a month (usually 10 to 20 times that much).

    Many new subscribers send me messages reporting they literally cannot subscribe, as the subscription button doesn't work on my page for new subscribers, and for old subscribers, they're unable to try unsubscribing and then re-subscribing.

    Please help me somehow fix this: I can't even count how many times I've tried to contact someone to fix this, it really sucks having only about 10-20K of my 99,000+ subscribers be able to see my videos for a full year+ prior to this current problem.

    My youtube account is http://www.youtube.com/azuritereaction , thanks in advance. I can give a full list of all the known bugs I've experienced, messages I get from people, Facebook polls where people say the majority of them don't get videos, etc. if that'd help. :)

  27. I have been having a subscriber problem SINCE JULY! Barely 15% of my subscribers have seen the video and evidence is clear when I log onto other accounts that are subscribed to me, I have had patience but that is running dry fast!
