YouTube One Channel, now available for everyone

We’re happy to announce that YouTube One Channel is open for everyone.

You may have noticed that some YouTube channels have a new look. We’ve been running a limited beta test, and after collecting and implementing lots of feedback from creators, we’re ready for all channels on YouTube to upgrade to the new design.

The main focus of this update is to make your new channel look great on browsers across all screens and devices. It will also help you convert more visitors into subscribers with a slot for a channel trailer, and you can customize how you organize your videos and playlists so it fits your programming strategy.

Try these three activities to get the most out of your new channel:
  1. Create a trailer, which will play for any visitor who isn’t yet subscribed to your channel. This is your chance to hook them and win a new fan. Treat this trailer as if it were an ad. Keep it short and engaging and have a compelling call to action at the end.
  2. Create and upload a big, beautiful piece of Channel Art. This will act as your channel’s visual identity. And unlike the branding on the old channels, it will look good across all screens and devices, no matter how big or small.
  3. Organize your channel’s videos and playlists so they work best for your audience and programming. With the new channel home and customizable sections, you’re in control of what subscribers see when they click on your channel from the guide.

    1. The Google Plus Pages integration is a brilliant part of this update. Even though it's still in Beta my Google Plus Pages are successfully linked to my Youtube Channels.

      This is a step towards having One Main Google Account Manage all of your Youtube Channels.

      However, there is still a ways to go before we'll see seamless integration. From what I can tell creating a new Youtube Channel will still simultaneously create a new g-mail address.

      And thank goodness it does (still). Separate work and play zones are healthy. I would gladly pay Google a subscription fee if they could leave YouTube alone. They can't leave anything alone. I think if ever I wanted to marry someone I would want him to be just like Google. Someone who wants to be my everything all the time, always there, knows everything, determines my needs for me, always by my side, in my hair, up my skirt even and with tons of money and a growing command of the planet. Oh yes, seamlessly integrated too so that nothing in my life could be separate ('til death do us part). Oh so dreamily Übermensch!

  3. I dislike that the channel art I upload will be associated with my personal Google+ profile - I want it to be associated with my Google+ page instead. Why do we not still yet have the option to link our channels with a G+ Page?

    1. I completely agree with you. I wish YouTube would leave the channel backgrounds and settings alone it's annoying to keep having to look around for the settings and settings moved. Also, I wish they would go back to year 2008 channel background and just leave it there and work on Video Quality and YouTube adds are getting out of and gtfo!!!

    1. Youtube assumes people only dislike it just because it's "different". No, we dislike it because it's once again another downgrade. Not to mention the fact that everything this "new" channel is offering, WE ALREADY HAVE

      Channel Trailer - We already have the option to feature whatever video we want on our main page. We can easily create a "trailer" of our own and make that the default video on our channel already. This "upgrade" means nothing.

      "Custom Art" - We already have banners, and we can do a lot more with them than we'll be able to with this new design. Even for those who don't have banners, WE HAVE BACKGROUNDS! Backgrounds which we can custom design to look however we want to make our channel unique... we don't get that with the new design.

      Organization - We already have that and it looks better, it's more customizable, it looks slicker, and we can display as much as we want. This new design just let's us feature a small amount of playlists in an order that no one will care to view them in.

      That's just the few things it does offer, I could easily list a million more things that this design is taking away from the previous one.

      Right. It's a bit sleazy, but they own it. Without our videos they still own our profiles, which is everything that means anything. The previous platform only increased our willingness to give it to them so freely. They never cared, and can afford to care less now. In the not so distant past Chrome was a menace. It functioned like malware/spyware, and a great deal of talk on the internet was about getting rid of it. Now it's 're-branded' under the auspices of Google, but remains very much the same as it ever was. Deals like YouTube only sweeten what would otherwise be bitter. The under-current of the endeavor is appalling, if ever it were revealed. However by its very behavior Google has revealed that under-current, by its repeated apathy and full-steam ahead mentality. It does what it wants, and increasingly we just have to go along with it while it assigns its importance to our communications even in our public institutions. It certainly wishes to avoid the past to continue its edicts of 'new and improved.' The most significant thing about Google is that it hasn't ever really asked. It merely says and does. That may be the only unchanging thing about it.

Although it might not be perfect i decided to opt in, and its not that bad. it looks nice as long as you put the time in to customize it. xperpetualmotion made a good video called "How to Design for the New YouTube Channels" that i think everyone should watch. if you want to see how i designed mine, my youtube is "funtimeshorts". if you prepare now, then you wont have to rush a design later.

  14. Is there any preview of what content is placed for TV view? I'd like to know if there's any areas that can be a focus in the full view or not. If there's a margin to work with, etc.

    Even the main banner area, is that left uncovered on TV view or will different elements overlap it (like the avatar does)?

  16. Thats my transition to the new design done, I think its a good idea to switch whether you like the new layout or not? I only need to make a channel trailer now but lets hope that my traffic increases as over the past month it has gone downhill rapidly with the previous makeover.

    NEW Design

    I like that you can just drag and drop the displayed playlists to the position that you like.

    I don't like how users are expected to be experts in Photoshop to sort the new background out, Youtube should have designed an app for the site to upload and edit your design.

    Apart from that OK and lets hope we all continue to reach our targets, whatever they may be.?

Youtube, what the hell did you do to my subscriptions page? is it so much to ask to be able to see all the recent uploads at a glance instead of having to tediously sift through some overly large single file line? Some of us actually have a LOT of subscriptions to go through and 20-30 new videos in our feed daily and we don't check them everyday. This subscription page layout is an extreme hindrance.

    I've been a patient partner from 2006 until now.

    There's no possible way for me to go back to the old subscription page at this point. That, and the ability to go back to the old user pages is and always has been temporary. they eventually force it on you anyway.

    These things should NOT be mandatory YouTube. Not a single one of your old designs were deficient. Stop trying to fix what isn't broken, or at least allow us to choose what layouts we want.

  31. This new adaptable layout ruins all the YouTube Partner's exclusive features and generally just isn't anywhere near personal and / or user friendly. If people want to be professional and brand themself, they need a professional website to do just that, and right now YouTube definitely isn't the place. YouTube have gone from being a huge professional media to the video sharing site with cats again.
    Sorry but Google, you really don't give a damn shit about the users, I'd wish you never bought YouTube in the first place.

I subscribe to very high-end fashion design channels, like Chanel who have made elegant use of the design features of their channel. Somehow I can't picture Karl Lagerfeld connected in any way to a big blank white page cluttered with thumbnail images...lol.

  32. I uploaded a few test photos for the channel art and I cannot delete the ones that's not being used. I don't want to create a Google+ account just to delete these photos since I already have another Google account with a Google+ profile.

  33. We should also be able to upload 3 separate channel art. One for desktop, one for mobile, and one for TV. I have a channel art with a black gradient at the bottom. However, this will only show up on the TV version and not desktop nor mobile.

  34. Please fire whoever is in charge of web design because they clearly have no clue what they're doing. This new design sucks all individuality from a channel. A single banner and playlists don't make a channel special, what you had before changed a whole page to be exactly what the creator wanted.   38. I made the switch this weekend and I don't have an issue with it. Sure, it's not the same as the old design but it isn't terrible as you can still be creative with your banner.

    The trailer plays for the unsubscribed users and then you have a featured window of your most recent videos (and you featured in-programming video) for your subscribed users. Yes, it doesn't auto-play like the old layout, but they can scroll through videos on the main page, meaning there is potential for them to view more or see a thumbnail that they like, which provides more opportunities than the old design.

  41. Thumbs up: when you click on a channel on the left column under "Subscriptions", the channel loads in the center column. Much better than having to click "view channel".

    Thumbs down: layout. Too much text, too much white. Looks cluttered and not easy on the eyes. Needs better separation between all the elements.

  51. I made the transition to One Channel style on the 8th of March, the channel is now receiving virtually zero visits to the main page from an average of 122, video views are down by around 20% - 30%. The featured channels are mainly big hitters and not much use to my viewers.

    Q. Is anyone else suffering from the same issues, or has my traffic just dropped due to a seasonal change, or are Youtube just looking after the big boys?

  53. The channel is one's personal homepage, therefore it should be personal, NOT all-white and without any decoration for everyone. I already joined Zippcast after the cosmic panda channels were forced on everyone but it became no succes. There is no alternative for youtube where you can have a decent channel. If there was, I would already have left at the launch of the cosmic panda channels.

    YouTube forgets that the reason they have gotten so big is ONLY because their website was good. If they started out with the current channels, YouTube would not have been such a big succes. YouTube would not have had a community, because that's what it does: it destroys the community.

  56. YouTube forces this change so it can look more like Facebook in hopes that more people will use Google+. Regardless of the "banner" (big deal - it's the only splash of color on an all-white background) it's still generic looking and definitely 10 times worse than the last "design upgrade". Take us back to the easily navigated design used in 2010 - it was one page and we could access everything much easier. A BIG thumbs down to GoogleTube for messing up a good thing!

  57. It's not horrible, I like the options for showcasing videos but it's still the bland/boring white design Google is pushing. Their design team is very non-creative and I assume hates any type of color. I'm picturing a team of white clothed people pulling up to Google headquarters in all white cars sipping on coffee in a white mug with white sunglasses on.

    Not happy about the free advertising on the right side bar for "related channels" either. I thought this was MY channel.

  63. This new generic, bland, and rather confusing page is just another attempt to reduce bandwidth and try to look more like a social media platform. G+ is pretty useless when up against powerful platforms like facebook and there is no way all of my people are going to come over to it. Our views are down and this new redesign is not going to help that very much. This is all driven by Google corporate who not only want to reduce costs, they are stupid enough to think we are going to change social media platforms. Not going to happen. In the end we have no choice, as the creator has been ignored as usual. So we trudge on with what has to be the worst update the designers have come up with yet. There is no choice and until a new video platform comes along (and it will) we are nothing but a number in an even more generic world. It pains me to think they are spending huge dollars on this design, but have blinders to those who create the very content that makes this site thrive. This is not an update for the creators, it is for the board of directors at Google. it's always about money people. No one cares what you think. The service is free and we take what we can get or your can always find another site I suppose. I have nine channels and we are activity looking for alternates to move our content. When a viable one comes along we will be one of the first to do so. Until then we have no control over anything. Google's board of directors doesn't even know who you are and they could care less. This is about money and that will never change.

  64. I joined Google+ like many other Youtubers because it was virtually forced upon me, I don't use the account much as I am not into that kind of thing, if I want to inform someone of anything it will be with a video. Besides I haven't got the time for G+ etc.

    I see the one channel design as the future and we have to accept it, or pack our bags, but what I don't understand is how traffic has reduced once that we made the switch to the new One Channel design, I would have thought that the opposite would have occurred? to encourage people to make the switch to the new design.

  65. Not a fan of the new channel design. My main complaint is I can't feature video for current subscribers. (You can feature a video to people who aren't subscribers, but really, how many people go to your page who aren't subscribers?) This is an issue for the channel I manage. With the old layout we were able to feature a video in the player that corresponded to what was on our blog that day. Also, I am having difficulty adding an image for the channel banner. I can upload the image, but due to the requirement that it work on all platforms, I can't get the image to display correctly on a desktop or mobile browser. Editing the crop doesn't appear to be working, either. I used to be able to send in a ticket, but YouTube has apparently taken that feature away. If anyone can point me in the right direction to get some support, that would be great. And if you're Google or YouTube, please give us the ability to feature video to our subscribers back.   66. Creating channel art was my biggest gripe with One Channel, as I am a little rusty with photoshop and couldn't initially get my head around the specification.

    Youtube should have created an app for channels to upload an image directly to where we could add any text required & resize the image.

    This would really help people out on taking up the new channel.

    Anyway this was my solution to the problem but I am sure that there will be other ways.

    Step1.

    Step 2

    Download the template under the image.

    Step 3a

    Then open the image up in my image editor Photoshop.

    3b.

    I then created another layer and pasted the image that I was going to use on my channel.

    3c.

    Next I made the layer transparent so that the bottom image was visible, I then adjusted the image & added my text so that it was in the correct position and within the guidelines of the template.

    It didn't take long perhaps 30 minutes, but it seemed very daunting until the penny dropped on how I could do things my way, as I don't know how to set up such templates in PS.

    I personally believe that creating the new art work is going to be the big issue when people are making the switchover, Youtube should have done much better and perhaps as they read this thread they could actually publish another more concise article on uploading artwork for those that are struggling,

  67. I am always an early adopter when it comes to new designs but I have to say, this newest design is awful. It looks bad, it's confusing to navigate, both for the channel owner as well as the audience. It looks jumbled and messy. I wish people would stop trying to fix what isn't broken and concentrate on old issues that have never been fixed.

  68. Google Devs: I'd like to be able to feature the Favorites playlist on my channel again. For some reason it is excluded from the list of available playlists.

    There is a rather limited number of sections you are allowed to add to the channel page.

    And the YouTube account name is no longer on the channel page or on playlists as far as I can tell. Meaning any playlist not on the page is no longer accessible by the public.

    One other thing, the Panasonic app is borked.

  73. As a fellow YouTuber, I am very disappointed to hear that YT is going to roll out the new layout. I spent forever and a day making my channel background, etc... and am very disappointed that it will no longer be seen. I see no need for youtube to "integrate across all monetization platforms," which is what they are attempting to do. I would love to see the raw feedback from the supposed beta tests, because I can almost guarantee that the initial responses were as follows: "WTF is this shit?"

The option to switch back to the former layout sounds great when they say it, and they made a point of saying it because they knew so many would want to do so, but what they don't say is that it's only available extremely temporarily. If you don't change back almost immediately, your option disappears, and sadly, many don't see how badly their views have dropped until a bit of time passes, and by then? Yep, the option is gone.

    And, of course, by not changing back, it appears to others (as Google knows) that you CHOSE to keep the new layout.

    I totally agree with everyone who hates it. They hate it for extremely good reasons. Biggest one is that it's ugly. Morbidly so. There is absolutely nothing to distinguish one account from another which takes away all individualism, a HUGE part of BEING a creator. Where is the fun in "creating" if nothing you do matters? It will still be a sterile, bland, BORING mess?

    How can they not see that creators NEED to create and be able to SEE their creation when clearly they're addicted to doing so to the point of forcing others to not only see what they "create" but force them to use it as their "creation" as well?

    A completely white background with a slip of a banner is NOT a channel, but a PAGE of a website. There is no joy to working on it because one, they expect everyone to be knowledgeable about photoshopping, etc. in order to create it, and two, because it's such a small percentage of the whole that it barely matters, it may as well be a banner ad. It looks just like everyone else's page, and because of that, there is no pride in creating it or owning it.

    A buttload of websites that provide free websites have design templates that allow for personalizing because they know that personalizing something by creating its appearance IS HOW YOU MAKE IT YOUR OWN. And, they know it to the point of battling each day to provide even more ways of doing that very thing because more will come to them if they have more OPTIONS for CREATING than someone else. AND, they manage to do it without forcing everyone to use a blank sheet of paper and then KEEPING it a blank sheet of paper!

    All Google has to do is use similar building templates but allow for personal art to be used and of course work in the basics of any youtube channel. Creating (HA), instead, nothing but anger and disappointment with the very individuals who keep money coming in is the worst managerial decision and shows an extreme lack of ability to foresee consequences.

    Google, the only thing keeping people creating on Youtube and bringing in money is the fact that there is, as yet, no alternative, and since you can't seem to wrap your collectively numb minds around possible futures to your actions, I'll tell you this (she said, as if she thought you'd listen and heed), there WILL be an alternative, and soon. Do not, for one second, underestimate people and their ability to be the next yahoo, Facebook, or, yes, Google. Obviously, it happens. And, THE MOMENT THERE IS AN ALTERNATIVE, YOUR MONEY WELL WILL DRY UP OVERNIGHT if you don't stop stealing the ability to CREATE and show those creations freely.

    If your jealousy of the few extra pennies Facebook makes is getting to you so badly then either seek counseling or kiss their ass until they agree to let people monetize their Facebook pages, so you can be an option for those people to use. Actually, seek counseling either way. You seem to be morbidly obsessed with having all of the money in the world to the point of making sure you lose like some controlling, jealous spouse who eventually drives the one they "love" away by causing the very thing they feared.

    Our channels are like our stores, and because they're ONLINE and have no store front or signs to show it, our only option is to create them with our channel page. Stop turning us into a basement yardsale with a poster out front saying we're on the bottom floor. Or that's where you'll find yourself.

    1. Or, what I do is just use YouTube as a video server for my WordPress site!! I just embed the videos, and guess what? I have tons of space to customize. I can even put a PayPal button on it and sell stuff. YouTube, obviously, just wants to be a video server and that's it. If you think about it, they've reduced themselves to a bare bones function: serving up videos. Unfortunately for them their myopia contributes only to the earnings of others now because of it. I'm sure they'll continue to make their 'improvements' while increasingly missing the point. I say 'good,' because as long as they remain confused the longer I have a free video server. :-)

  78. I think this design is hideous and stupid!! It's one of the worst looking designs they've come out with yet! It's plain white, boring, cluttered, invades the use of a channel owners space to put other stuff in their space! I just hate pretty much everything about it google don't give a shit about how users feel about it!! Basically.. google is a dictator of youtube.. we love youtube but we hate the dictator government of youtube, google!

  79. I prefer the old design with use of customization of background. The new design looks like a news site. Backgrounds allows a more personal "flavor" that sets the tone for the entire site, even as you scroll down. The design is more massive, like entering a entire room of painted walls versus just some curtains in the entrance. People really take a lot of time to design their sites, then when it is automatically changed...more effort is needed to adjust. In the fast paced world, with so much to focus...having to change various platforms/sites can truly be taxing & time consuming...having choices would truly be helpful.

  81. the playlists DON'T work. I used to put them on full screen then sit back and watch. They would play through all the videos to the end then stop ( I didn't have to use that autoplay button because it is strictly for psychos. Who would want a playlist that goes round and round in an endless loop??). Now , since the last major change, this doesn't work ! One video plays and then it stops. Can we PLEASE have it back the way it was?

  83. So now they made it official, the new One Channel will be mandatory for everyone on May 29th.

    You lose your background, and replacing it on the right side is a big section, 'Recommended Channels'. You remember how everyone hated that little side panel on the front page? Well, now it's on EVERYONE's channel page.

    The problem is, Youtube/Google is only pushing the most popular channels. So the larger channels get bigger, and the smaller channels have a tougher time getting exposure. All at the expense of your channel.

    This One Channel design is a piece of crap.

  85. I really tried to give this a chance, I did, but I honestly find this to be the worst design yet. I can't even change the retina burning white bg to a different flat color (I'd like pastel pink). And what's with the channel art? It's a huge banner that we already had. When I was switching over to the new design I kept seeing it mentioned that it would allow us to be even more creative than before and give more customization options (as I'm looking to become an active utaite now I'm very interested in making my page beautiful), but then I get it switched over and find that the only pictures I get to set are my avatar and the channel art (which has such huge requirements for size that none of the pictures I want to use will work). The way you've set up the playlists and uploads are just plain messed up. I created my playlists for me; I don't want them displayed right under my new uploads, or as I saw it at one point, -above- them. That toolbar is in the way and my brain keeps telling me to minimize it. The new design it horrible; take it away.

    I wasn't too active in the years leading up to this one so I'm not sure when it was around, but I loooooved the design that had your featured video taking up half to two-thirds of the screen with recent uploads to the right of it and down below were playlists and comment sections. People had their channel customized so that I could tell at a glance who I was seeing and everything was easy to find and navigate. What was wrong with this design?

    I'm honestly considering switching over to Nico Nico (like the Japanese Youtube), and you guys should think about it if you're looking for alternatives. Maybe we can expand their English language audience enough that Google will get the point. To get there go to nicovideo.jp and to see the site in English go the the bottom left and set the region to United States and the language to English.

  87. As most of you seem to be posting from a content provider's point of view may I make a point for people like myself that have a channel largely to subscribe to content providers. I used to get a heads up to other channels and video content through their subscriptions and likes. This has now gone and with it I feel the whole community of youtube has been destroyed. Not in the least surprised your channel views are down as your viewers can no longer recommend them to people they are in contact with. Only the big hitters will get the views. I for one enjoy much of the quirky and unprofessional on the tube as well as the better produced content. That's all gone now, the community feel has gone and they may be trying for the social network crowd but this downgrade I feel does exactly the opposite.

Google has turned itself into the very thing it used to fight against. Unique identity? WHAT? Really? Fuck you google. I believed in you and stuck by you through the years because of what you stood for. Now you're just another Microsoft. And now with base79 they're constricting more and more until they will suck money out of every single youtube channel and if you're an occasional uploader you will die off in the back corner.

  91. I'd like to add some constructive feedback. I like the customization of playlists, but we need more flexibility.

    1. There should be an obvious "play all" button (not just a rollover "play") next to playlist headers.
    2. All videos in playlists don't show up whether in vertical or horizontal mode on channel page. When I scroll to end of playlist, the "play all" slide isn't coming up on my top playlist. While I really like vertical mode, there should be a "see all" link visible ALL THE TIME under playlists displayed in this mode. Otherwise it looks like there are only six videos.
    3. Within the Playlists playlist, I would like to reorder the items. It seems I'm stuck with whatever order you've chosen, and it's not one I like.
    4. Why not restore custom colors, if not custom backgrounds, to the channels? Or at least black if we don't like white?
    5. I'd prefer to see the entire list of channels I'm linking to on the right, rather than YouTube's "Related Channels," which aren't nearly as "related" as the ones I have curated.
    6. I want to customize what subscribers see in the "subscriber view." The Recent Activity choices YouTube is making automatically are NOT what I want at the top of the page, which is prime real estate. I'd rather be able to do an "about" paragraph there with links, and perhaps a link to a top playlist.

  93. Hey guys. PLEASE, make it easier to navigate the channel settings. I spent 30 mins trying to figure out how to stop my comments that I make on videos from showing up on my channel. Can't you make all of the youtube channel settings on one page or something? Just a suggestion. thx.
    Also, when I go to send a message to someone, all that's there (in *really* tiny letters*) is "send message". I think it would be easier if you guys put an "envelop" icon at the very top of the person's channel or something. It just seems really overcomplicated as of late.

  115. I really don't like the new YouTube design, it was much better in the good old days when YouTube was YouTube (because to me it isn't anymore), where you could personalize your channel with colours and a background photo.
    And why have they removed the option to share your videos with 'all contacts'? I used to get lots of views within a short time, because I could share it with all my contacts. Now I have to send an email for each person I want to share my video with and if I try to add more than one contact to the email, then very often an error occurs (so it takes forever to share my video with many people).
    YouTube is no longer user-friendly and people who don't have many subscribers or are famous etc. they will hardly stand a chance.
    And why have they moved the channel comment section? I liked it much better when it all was gathered at the same page.
    I really hope Google someday will (hopefully very soon) realize that they have taken away all the good features – that they will start caring about the users and care about giving everyone a chance to get their video out to people - and make YouTube a real community again.
    The only reason I don't stop using YouTube, is because I don't know where else to share my videos and I still hope that the ‘all contacts’ sharing feature will come back someday.

    This seems to have been the case for the past 3 channel layouts, if only they made them all available again and give the users a choice they would be so much more respected because then we don't need to hate on them for making new channel designs.

    No... otherwise we would have our channel views back (the totals that used to appear up top). I have no idea how many have visited my channel, since the previous 'upgrade.' How could I be concerned with converting visitors to subscribers when I have no idea how many have actually visited? YouTube doesn't want individualized channels and I'm not the least bit excited about a thin strip up top in which to customize. I can't be bothered trying to provide YouTube with compelling content for it to monetize, in the form of a 'Trailer.' For Pete sake what do viewers need a 'teaser' for? There's nothing to look at but a mess of thumbnail images now. Thanks YouTube, but now you just function as a video server to embed compelling content in a more exciting website elsewhere. YouTube is no better than a video server now, since the personalized channels have been wiped out.

You guys are copying Facebook WAY too much, first the likes and dislikes now the 'cover' and profile picture of the new YouTube 1, if Youtube wasn't so popular I'd be moving to Vimeo, but instead I'll just have to spread my annoyance of this update everywhere, seems I'm not the only one who doesn't like it, AND how dare you remove our right to keep the old one, if you make us change all our names to google plus, I'm out.

  125. Constantly changing the layout to ever-more impersonal and ugly designs is the best way to discourage advertisers and partners.

    I'm so sick of Google moving the cheese on Youtube, I would NEVER use it for any kind of sales for the business I own. For crying out loud, the user can't even alphabetize the videos on a channel, but is forced with too-glare-white hospital or prison interface which is CONFUSING UGLY AND STUPID?

    Used to be able to view my subscriptions, but in the last few months, it's impossible, due to some mindless changes there.

    Someone should fire whoever keeps on changing the design from December 2008, forward.

    I would never recommend that any of my business clients advertise on Youtube due to these mindless and arrogant changes.

  126. This is totally horrible, the worst update yet. I just wonder why you tube think that people hate the design only because it's "new"? You are taking away all individuality, it's all white and with new design one cannot even separate the channel view from the rest of the page.

    Then you are stealing the real estate with the junk I DON'T WANT TO SEE when I click on other channels (or people click on my channel). I don't want to see links to my play lists or messages or "Watch history" or the list of my subscriptions when I am looking at someone else's channel, if I want to see those things, I'll click on them. I don't care for "Popular" views either, when I click to look at someone's channel I want to see their channel and nothing else taking up the real estate. Ditto when someone clicks on my channel, I want my channel to take up the full screen. At least make it an option.

    As to other devices - not everyone uses these other devices or wants to use you tube on other devices. It may be important for some people, but not for everyone.
